Autumnal Victorian Wedding Cake

Ok,the Victorians didn't eat cupcakes but if they did, this is what a Victorian cupcake wedding cake would have looked like. The venue was One Whitehall Place, next to the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London. A stunning building and a true window into another era.

Here is the cake we made for the lovely Louise and Ben, married today and we wish them all the best in their new life together.

Wow, Arianna, that looks utterly gorgeous, so romantic and pretty! And knowing your baking as I do, it will have tasted even better than it looks! Will call you this week about Alastair's cake, if that's ok.

I'm one half of the very lucky couple whose wedding cake this was! The pictures look wonderful but in the flesh it was even better and looked utterly magical. We could not have wished for a more perfect cake. Or one which tasted better!

We had four different flavours (lemon, ginger and guiness, chocolate truffle and banana) and we lost count of the number of guests who came to find us to tell us how delicious they all were and how beautiful the cake looked before it was swiftly devoured during the evening buffet... We even spotted guests wrapping extra cupcakes up in napkins and furtively popping them away in their bags to take home with them!

The decorations were gorgeous and elegant and Arianna was a joy to work with from beginning to end and so creative - when it came to the presentation we left her to make all the decisions as we knew it would be just right.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that our cupcake tower was one of the highlights of our wedding day and it was a real pleasure for both of us to see all our friends and family tucking in to the cakes with such relish. So often one goes to weddings and the cake is left uneaten, but certainly not at ours and that made us very happy!
